➊ Try It On
If you are going to be using the wig, the best thing you can do it's put it on. This way it's going to be easier to see what are you looking to achieve.
Grab some bobby pins and use them to define where is that you are going to cut.
Put your wig on a wig stand, then secure it with pins. To hold the front portions of hair back, clip them in front of the ears. The front wig pieces may be gathered into your hands using two hair clips. To prevent unintentional cutting of the hair while layering the back parts, clip the hair in front of the ears.
Although you'll layer the front pieces as well, it's simpler, to begin with, the rear and end with the front because the back is typically the place that requires the most improvement.
➌ Layer Positions
The wig hair's top and bottom layers should be distinguished. The length of your wig will be determined by the bottom layer, so keep it in place. Then choose the length or shortness of the layers. For instance:
✦ The top piece might be layered so that it sits 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5.1 cm) above the middle section and another 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5.1 cm) above the middle layer.
✦ Alternately, you might divide the center and top pieces into even smaller chunks to create numerous levels. How many layers you want in your hair will determine everything!
To begin working on the center region of the hair, pin the top portion of the hair. Simply collect the top piece of hair with a second hair clip, leaving the bottom and middle to hang down. By clipping it down close to the front of the wig, keep the top portion of hair apart from the remainder of the wig.
If you're finding it difficult to separate the parts by hand, a comb can be used.
Repeat the layering method after making down the top layer of hair. Holding the hair between your middle and index fingers once more, cut little portions of hair at a 45-degree angle.
If you see that the sections are beginning to tangle, brush or comb the hair out as you go.
➏ Brush
Let the two front parts be pinned down while standing in front of the wig. Brush out the hair on either side of the wig after removing the hair clips. Consider how you want your face to be framed by the layers.
The front areas of layered hair are frequently shorter than the rear sections.
➐ Hair Frame
Cut the hair that frames the face first to create an outline. Cut the front's sides at a downward angle using the scissors in your dominant hand. To assist in directing your hand in the appropriate direction, keep your elbow up in the air.
The shortest hair portions are still long enough to be styled because many individuals start the framing at ear length.
➑ Last Layers
The front wig's center and upper regions should be layered. Cut the center and top pieces of the front of the wig at a downward angle rather than straight across, much like how you stacked the rear sections of the hair. As you work on the middle, divide off the top section, and finally overlay the top.
To ensure that your hair will lie perfectly with the front outline you made, don't forget to trim the front layers at an angle that is downward.
And that's it! ♡
You are ready to style your wig for more layers and volume. I hope this helps and see you next Monday!
