ღ How to Properly Store Your Wig ღ

☉ It's time ☉

After a three-day Comic Con adventure you and your wig probably need a little rest, right?

Well here are some steps you can take to clean, dry, and store it so you can use it again next time & maybe another one!

Follow this method to make it look nicer for a longer time.

➊ Wash

After a long day of wearing your wig, all the sweat and dirt must go away before storing it. For a full tutorial on how to clean your wig check it out here.

➋ Dry

Make sure you dry it completely. You can use a blow dry on the non-heat mode (Blow Dry $15), a towel, or hang it on the wig stand for at least 24 hours depending on how much hair and length it has. This part it's important because if you store it while it's wet it could lead to mold.

➌ Brush

After it's completely dry make sure you brush it. Use a wide-tooth comb or a wig comb to detangle it. First, start with the ends and work your way up to the roots, always carefully.

➍ Folding

Grab your wig and fold it ear to ear. This will work for short and medium-length hair wigs. For short wigs, turn it inside out. And lastly, for long or curled wigs you can braid the ends in 2/3 sections to prevent tangling

➎ Net

Make sure you have a wig net. Usually, they send a net with the wig when you buy it. You can re-use that one. We do this since it's a little bit harder for a synthetic wig to be styled.

 Storage

Tupperware

You can use Tupperware to store your wig. They are inexpensive and you can find them everywhere. Not to say that it will keep your wigs organized and easily findable.

Ziploc Bag

Slip the wig slowly into a Ziploc bag. Try not to wiggle or toss to avoid entanglement. Flat-it to take all the air out before closing.

➐ Labeling

Make sure you use painter's tape, and sticker labels to write the name of the wig down. I usually do it by character or future project.

➑ Extra

You can use a hat rack, the ones that go on the door. You can hang them there to avoid tangling. Another idea's to invest in a wig stand and make a DYE shelf to hold them.

And that's it! ♡

You are ready to store your amazing wig and use it multiple times! I hope this helps and see you next Monday!

Hope you have a great week!
